Our History

In May 1989 six couples began to meet regularly to pray about their vision for a new church, one that blended together the elements of worship, prayer, biblical teaching and the active presence of the Holy Spirit. They found their model in the Vineyard, and became a church plant from the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Evanston, Illinois.  John Ramer, who pastored the church for the next 18 years, and a small church-planting team joined with the pioneer families in 1989. Over the years Trinity Community Church met in rented spaces at the Mundelein High School and a theater in downtown Mundelein, Illinois until the fall of 2003 when it moved to our own facility in Libertyville.

In the fall of 2007 John Ramer stepped down as senior pastor and the church went through a period of transition. Eric Gray, along with the elders and a leadership task force revised the leadership structure of the church and currently the church operates with a Lead pastor and Executive pastor working together to fulfill the role of the traditional senior pastor. We held a dedication service for the new leadership in April of 2010. As a church, we look forward with anticipation what God has in store in the days ahead.
