"Sing about a fruitful vineyard: I, the Lord, watch over it; I water it continually. I guard it day and night so that no one may harm it" (Is 27:2-3).
In May 1989 six couples began to meet regularly to pray about their vision for a new church, one that blended together the elements of worship, prayer, biblical teaching and the active presence of the Holy Spirit. They found their model in the Vineyard, and became a church plant from the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Evanston under Steve Nicholson.

Steve Nicholson, John and Melissa Ramer, along with Rob and Susan Johnson, comprised the church-planting team that joined with the pioneer families. In December of 1989, there were 18 adults. We met in rented space at the Mundelein High School until the summer of 1999. By that time, the church had grown to approximately 150, and we moved on to rent a former theater in downtown Mundelein.

While the downtown Mundelein location was adequate, the space had many limitations: our children's ministry met in a separate storefront; our church offices were across town; and for our youth ministry, we were renting space at another church. So we started to seek God for a permanent home. After over four and a half years of planning, hard work and sacrificial giving by many, we moved to our current permanent facility in Libertyville. We were overjoyed to have our first worship celebration on October 26, 2003.
